In the 60’s and 70s, motels were synonymous with summertime road trip adventures. With our new renovations, we’ve preserved the unique details of these independent lodgings. Bold patterns, retro colors, vintage National Park posters, and little additions like vivid orange rotary phones—just because they bring us joy! If you’re to spend the day hiking, biking, swimming, or climbing in Acadia National Park, you’re going to need some fuel! Head to our main building at the front of the property for daily continental breakfast inside or on our patio. We love to boast about the fact that less than a mile separates the back of our property from the historic carriage roads of Acadia National Park. The Bar Harbor Motel/Acadia Connector Trail is well marked and easily followed. Head to the back of the property on foot or with your bike and enter national park land on the marked trail.
The carriage roads are a system of 45 miles of carefully groomed, crushed gravel roads with spectacular views of the park’s key features like Eagle Lake, Jordan Pond, and the Bubbles. Explore on foot, by bike, or even catch a horse drawn carriage from Wildwood Stables.
After a long walk on Acadia’s carriage paths there are few things more refreshing than a dip in the pool right near your rooms. Maintained at a pleasant 82 degrees, our pool is meticulously cleaned and the perfect way to relax and keep the family entertained when not exploring downtown Bar Harbor or Mount Desert Island. The pool is fully fenced and gated to keep our younger guests safe. You’ll find plenty of comfortable chairs and lounges where you can read your favorite novel or simply catch some Maine sunshine. The pool is opens in late May and closes October 1st.

One of the most convenient ways to get around Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island is on the Island Explorer shuttle bus system. This is a free, public transportation system that links together many of the area’s most popular sites and attractions using low-emission, propane powered buses.
The Island Explorer stops right in front of the Bar Harbor Motel property on its Eden Street route. Leave your car behind and save on the cost (and stress) of parking by heading to the front of the property where the bus will pick you up or drop your off. Buses are equipped with bike racks to take you and your gear into the park. You can check bus schedules online or head to our front desk to ask for help from one of our friendly staff.
Yes, our outdoor pool is open seasonally from May to October.
Yes, we’re lucky to have direct access to Acadia National Park through the Acadia Connector trail at the back of the property.
Standard check in time is 3pm and check out is at 11am. You may call the front desk to request early check in or late check out, however it is not guaranteed. We do offer baggage storage for early arrivals so you can get started exploring Mount Desert Island.
To maintain cleanliness and avoid damage to the rooms we ask that you store your bikes in our free bike storage shed. For safety, we lock the storage shed each evening at 9:30pm and unlock at 6:30am.
