Pool & Patio

Open every day 8:30am – 10:pm (in-season)

After a long walk on Acadia’s carriage paths there are few things more refreshing than a dip in the pool right near your rooms. Maintained at a pleasant 80 degrees, our pool is meticulously cleaned and the perfect way to relax and keep the family entertained when not exploring downtown Bar Harbor or Mount Desert Island. The pool is fully fenced and gated to keep our younger guests safe. You’ll find plenty of comfortable chairs and lounges where you can read your favorite novel or simply catch some Maine sunshine.

Shuttle

Island Explorer

May - October

One of the most convenient ways to get around Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island is on the Island Explorer shuttle bus system. This is a free, public transportation system that links together many of the area’s most popular sites and attractions using low-emission, propane powered buses.

The Island Explorer stops right in front of the Bar Harbor Motel property on its Eden Street route. Thus many of our guests can leave their vehicle conveniently parked in our lots during the entirety of their Bar Harbor vacation, simplifying logistics and saving costs on parking. You can check bus schedules online or head to our front desk to ask for help from one of our friendly staff.

Acadia National Park

Easy Trail Access

Less than a mile separates the back of our property from the historic carriage roads of Acadia National Park. The Bar Harbor Motel/Acadia Connector Trail is well marked and easily followed.

The carriage roads are a system of 45 miles of carefully groomed, 16-foot wide, crushed gravel roads featuring some of the most spectacular stone and masonry work in the country. A gift from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and his family, the carriage roads are closed to motorized traffic. These trails are still used for horse drawn carriages and individual riders but have also become popular routes for bicyclists. These trails aren’t just for horses and bicycles though. They offer a great way to explore the park for those with more limited mobility as they are maintained free of obstacles and have gentle inclines.

We highly recommend making a visit to Jordan Pond House—famous for their tea, popovers and relaxing lawn overlooking the pond. Just follow your carriage road map to Jordan Pond House, located in between intersection 14 and 15. There is a lovely trail around Jordan Pond, and if you still have energy to burn, try it out! If not, you’ll be pleased to know that Jordan Pond House is a stop for the Island Explorer bus system which will take you safely back to the Bar Harbor Motel, even with room for your bikes. Be sure to check a current bus schedule for connection times and availability.

Jordan Pond House is quite popular and at certain times during the year it is difficult to get a table. You may make a reservation by calling 1-207-276-3316.

On-Site Storage

On-site Bicycle & Kayak Storage

Your trail bike is an expensive possession and it’s important to properly store it out of the reaches of the elements and potential thieves. For all our cyclist guests, the Bar Harbor Motel offers use of its fully enclosed storage building to keep your bikes safe when not in use.

Each hanger in the storage building is equipped with an anchor point so you may secure your bike with your own standard chain or cable lock. The storage building is open from 6am until 10pm each day and is large enough to accommodate several kayaks or paddle boards as well.

To keep rooms clean we ask that any guests with bicycles or kayaks make use of our included storage and do not bring their equipment into their rooms.

On-site Laundry

We have our own guest laundry with three washing machines and four dryers. Each one is coin operated and costs $2.00 for a wash and $2.00 for a dry.

Gift Shop

We have a small gift shop in our lobby so you can take a piece of Bar Harbor home with you.

Free WiFi

The wireless internet network that services your room, also works at the pool. What could be more civilized than responding to your email while you work on your tan, sipping an iced tea beside the pool?

Family Friendly Activities

Kids love our playground, tree swings, giant Adirondack chair, and on property activities, such as slacklining, wiffle ball, bocce, and badminton. They will happily spend hours here if you let them! If you find yourself here on a rainy day, or if you just want to relax after a day exploring, we keep a variety of board games at the front desk for our guests to use.
